Who would not want to be rich? Some chose the right way to acquire wealth while not rare to justify all sorts of ways just to be rich. Norma (Cameron Diaz) and Arthur Lewis (James Marsden) also want to be rich. The problem is how much they desire to be rich?
Norma and Arthur was not a rich man. With the income they barely get both tried to fend them an only child and it's not light work. One time, the couple was getting a box made of wood. In the box there is a button and this button has a double function.
The next morning, a man named Arlington Steward (Frank Langella) appeared and told Norma and Arthur to the box. When the button is pressed on the box so that pressing the button will become rich. He will get as much money as U.S. $ 1 million in a flash. Consequently, at the same time there will be others who will die because of that key.
Norma and Arthur had only 24 hours because after that the box was no longer theirs. Now she and Arthur must have the moral dilemma between being rich, but causing others to die or continue to be poor.
Ice story of this film recalls the short films of Alfred Hitchcock who play on national television channels a few years ago. The main characters are faced with a dilemma and when the character is one to make a choice then the consequences would be fatal. Usually human nature such as envy and greed is the key to the downfall of the main character is, much like Shakespeare's tragic tale.
There's nothing wrong with this idea. Proof TWILIGHT ZONE series is also still a lot of fans even though almost all the story departs from the same idea. THE BOX actual fact this is the adaptation of one of the TWILIGHT ZONE episode titled BUTTON, BUTTON.
Apparently, it's where lies the failure of director Richard Kelly. Ideas that are too short can not be properly translated into a 116-minute length movies this. Finally, what seemed an attempt to create a longer duration so that tails boredom and confusion. There was a point in time, he seemed reluctant to give an explanation of a scene so that the spectators who had waited climax of this movie was even more confused again.
Many scenes that did not have a strong bond with the basic idea of this story myself, so even if the scene was eliminated then this film will not lose the flow. Maybe if THE BOX was made into short films. With so maybe this movie even more interesting.
